Al Mamun: Greetings! I am Al Mamun, currently pursuing Master's in Theater and Performance Studies at The University of Dhaka. I have completed honors from the Department of Dramatics at the University of Chittagong. Theater seems to me to be a tool for social change. Theater is a force by which everything can be made beautiful. Acting and singing are my favorite activities, where acting is prayer and singing is recitation for me. So far, I have had the opportunity to act in about forty plays, most of which have seen staged for more than five times. Some of the plays I worked in are: Oedipus, The Frogs, Dakghar, Raktakarbi, Raja, Tarangabhanga, Uzane Mrityu, Baikunthar Khata, Irony of fame, Bisarjan, Macbeth, Post master, Shyama Prem, Kinu Kahar's Thetar, Eladi, Anvipret, Juta Abishkar etc. In addition to acting, I directed a few plays such as, Anvipreet, Uzane mrityu, Nikshit hem, Mahanayak's biography, Gambhira Natya etc. I have composed four plays so far. These are: Sukhi wonder and despair, Biography of Mahanayaka, Nikshit hem. I served as the general secretary of a folk cultural organization while studying at Chittagong University. Here I worked on lost folk customs, acted and directed gambhira, gambhira natya, patachitra, alkap - all of which are different forms of folk performances. I have trained at singing folk, Rabindra Sangeet, and contemporary songs. I am interested in research, and currently doing a research on dham gan, a very popular folk drama of Thakurgaon region. I like to watch movies, attend theaters, read books, and learn new things. I can be reached anytime at: mamunahmedcu.bd@gmail.com.
Rifat Karobi: Hello there! I am Rifat Karobi, a
student of the first semester of the master's program in Theatre and
Performance Studies at the University of Dhaka. Throughout my journey of
theatre, I have worked with many productions such as: Macbeth, Tartuffe, Shakuntala,
Joytun Bibir Pala, The Open Couple, The Iceman Cometh, Nimojjon, and Ekti
Adorsho Sheba Sangstha. Acting is my passion, and my portrayal of the character
“Wife” in “The Open Couple” holds a special place in my heart. During my
undergraduate final semester, directing the play “Moronbilash” was a fulfilling
experience, which encouraged me to focus on acting and directing as my future
career. I have also written a play titled
"Gowhorjan” as part of my 7th semester playwriting project. I have
a strong interest in theatre-design including costume, light, and set design. I
have had experience in the costume design for “Tartuffe,” light design for “Happy
Days,” and set design for “The Accidental Death of an Anarchist” and “The
Iceman Cometh.” I conducted two field works in the sixth and seventh semesters:
Theatre for Development and Theatre in Education. With a focus on acting and
directing, I'm eager to develop my expertise and experience in these areas.
Beyond the stage, I find joy in painting, reading, cooking, and tutoring young children.
Currently, I'm engrossed in the captivating pages of “The Conference of the
Birds”. I believe in the transformative power of art and aspire to use my
talents to enact positive change in society. Please reach me at rifatkaribi@gmail.com for
any query about my experiences, insights, and ongoing exploration of the
theatrical world. Have fun!- Ahadnur Fakir: fmahadnur@gmail.com
